This Great Ball Contraption (GBC) was presented at Japan Brickfest 2016 (June 4-5, 2016 Rokko Island Kobe).

It was presented by Canadian Academy & KLUG.  It consists of over 20 GBC modules built by the following designers / engineers:

  • Akiyuki (14 modules)
  • finn (3 modules)
  • toise (2 modules)
  • Y. Kuramata (1 module)

The layout size was 7.2m×1.2m.  The Six Heads was our favorite module:

This contraption presents fluid ball movement in various formats.  There are three different forms of an Archimedes screw.  There are two different stepper modules and another fan favorite – basketball toss (though the white balls are soccer balls – should there be a soccer goal shootout next time?).

The fast robot sorter truly is fast.  But by far the dragons(?) heads were the best.  It really added color and pop to the contraption as well as a different, less robotic type movement.

Brickfest is an annual celebration of all things LEGO.  It includes workshops and entire villages, civilizations actually, built of LEGO’s.  This year featured a recreation of the famous Kill Bill restaurant scene.
